Kids learn a variety of valuable skills through this STEAM activity, craft activity, Make a Paper Cup Puppet. What We Need For This Craft Activity, STEAM Activity 

• 1 Paper cup
• 3 Straws
• Tape
• Scissors
• Art supplies to make your character: colored paper, googly eyes, a glue or markers/ colored pens/ colored pencils, and paper
  (You can cut out colored paper, glue the pieces together to create a character, or draw a character on white paper and color it.)
• Optional: buttons, yarn, or any other embellishments for enhancing the toy’s appearance.

 

How to Do the Craft Activity, STEAM Activity Make A Paper Cup Puppet

 

1. Draw Your Character’s Pieces: Draw the facial features and hands on colored paper, and then cut them all out. Glue them together afterward. (You can also use markers, colored pencils, or other art supplies to draw a face and hands on the paper and cut them out.)

   

2. Decorate the Cup: Personalize the paper cup to give it more personality or character.
3. Make Holes in the Paper Cup: Create one hole in the bottom of the cup and two holes on the sides for the arms.

   

4. Attach Three Straws: Use tape to secure three straws together to form two hands and the body’s center.

   

5. Insert the Straws Into The Holes: Insert each straw end into the holes you made in the paper cup.

   

6. Cut the Straws for the Hands Shorter.

   

    

7. Tape the Head and Hands To the Straws.

   

    

    

   

8. Play and Enjoy: Your paper cup toy is now ready to play with and enjoy! Move the straws up and down to bring it to life and have fun with your creation.

Variations & Challenges

• Animal Themes: Instead of an animal figure, create paper cup human charaters. Use additional materials like craft foam, feathers, and pipe cleaners to bring your chosen animal or human character to life.
• Storytelling: Encourage kids to come up with stories or adventures for their paper cup puppets. This enhances their imaginative and narrative skills.
